Hi there! I’m Fernando and I like taking photos of stuff!
I have a strong passion for capturing candid and natural moments,
but am not afraid to approach people and ask them kindly for their
photo. I’m keen on details and endeavour to seek opportunities to
find unique shots that capture the mood of an event.
Highly respectful of people (guests, performers, hospitality
workers, etc), I like to make everyone feel comfortable with my
presence and then try not to get in their way as often as possible.
I’m very approachable and more than willing to take direction.
Now for a little bit of background…
I was trained as a graphic artist and photography was formally
introduced to me whilst studying. I immediately realised I enjoyed
composing images out of every day things.
Since then I have quite literally had a camera by my side for the
best part of 10 years. In that time I have helped shoot all sorts
of events, people and places—some of which include: end of
year graduate exhibitions for graphic design, visual art and
multimedia university students, behind-the-scenes of a
community television series, performing bands, charity events
and fundraisers, awards ceremonies, art exhibitions, real estate
and product shots.
Also, in that 10 year period, I have taken tens of thousands of
photos of moments spent with family and friends, and I believe
it is this that has better enabled me to capture people
spontaneously and obtain more natural and relaxed looking pictures.
In the past 2 years I have made friends with like minded people
who are also into photography and we try to make it a regular
habit to go on photo excursions to cut loose and have fun.
I find that I not only learn more about photography through
experimentation and exchanging of ideas, but also get inspired
to take even more photos!
